America Outdoors is pleased to introduce a new team member, Caryn Short. Caryn has joined the association as a Membership & Exhibits Specialist. This role will oversee trade show management as well as outfitter membership engagement, retention, and growth.
“Caryn is going to raise the bar in this association’s service to our membership,” commented Aaron Bannon, AO Executive Director. “America Outdoors created this position to build bridges to our outfitter memberships and their suppliers. Caryn’s experience and charisma will be welcomed and appreciated by the AO community.”
Prior to this role, Caryn recently earned a Master of Science in Management from the University of Illinois' School of Business. She currently resides in Central Illinois with roots in Wisconsin, where she grew up learning to love and respect the outdoors. She has a background in business and leadership involving the outdoor, fitness, and foodservice industries.
In Caryn’s words: “I am excited to be the most recent addition to the America Outdoors staff. I started my career in the outdoor industry as a guide in Alaska and Missouri years ago and have had a passion for working in the outdoors ever since. I’m looking forward to combining my background in business and my outdoor experience to serve in this new role with America Outdoors members.
When Caryn is not in her home office, she will be on the road meeting with current and prospective members or out in the field enjoying the great outdoors. Some of her favorite trips include backpacking Isle Royal, kayaking Bennett Lake in Canada, rafting the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon, and hiking in the Grand Tetons.
