2023 Government Shutdown

Most analysts now are anticipating that Congress will not overcome its current gridlock in time to keep the doors open, and the federal government will shut down on September 30. Depending on the length of the shutdown and an operator’s situation, outfitters on federal lands may not experience any noticeable impact, or they may find their entire operation blockaded.

Federal agencies have, in recent shutdowns, prepared and published guidance on how their landscapes and their offices will be impacted. Some local governments, too, in recent shutdowns have sought to supplant the lost federal dollars and keep their local unit open.
