This summer America Outdoors had its first podcast appearance. Tourpreneur Podcast host Shane Whaley interviewed AO Executive Director Julie Kahlfeldt and AO member Jeff Greiner to learn more about the history of America Outdoors and why the association is an important part of the travel industry.
The podcast episode begins with an overview and the history of America Outdoors from Julie Kahlfeldt. Jeff Greiner of Adventure America Outdoors Canopy Tours and Wildwater chimes in to offer his perspective of the organization as a longtime member. For Jeff, the community aspect of membership stands out as the biggest thing that has made Wildwater “a better outfitter” and allowed them to be more successful in the areas of financial growth as well as safety standards.
Listeners will also hear about the ways in which America Outdoors has grown in recent years, including the addition of the AO Women Connect Group, as well as new member discounts and benefits, such as the new-in-2019 AO Healthcare Plan.
A handful of America Outdoors members called in to the podcast to share why they are members with the association. One AO member, Scott Teuber of Wisconsin River Outings called in to say this about his membership:
“I love America Outdoors... It provides me access to other people in one spot at our yearly conference to commiserate… and hear about successes of those that are in our unique niche market of the outdoor industry. The marketing information is targeted to our niche market of outdoors and supplying people with memories to take with them in some cases through the cold winter for us here in Wisconsin. Also important is our advocacy for federal regulations… through representation in DC and in some cases when the situation is appropriate even at our state level of assistance in back up from a National Organization.”
Listen & enjoy!
